Ingredient Spotlight: Salicylic Acid
Our most-asked-about active, demystified.
Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) — oil-soluble, which means it can dissolve through sebum and clear the inside of a clogged follicle, not just the surface around it. That's why it's the gold standard for both acne and ingrown hairs.
How we use it
At 2% in the Ingrown Hair Serum — high enough to be clinically effective at unclogging follicles, low enough to use twice daily without barrier damage. Paired with glycolic acid (an AHA) for surface resurfacing and niacinamide to keep redness down.
Who should be careful
Anyone pregnant, breastfeeding, or on oral retinoids should skip it or check with a qualified professional first. Otherwise it's well-tolerated on melanated, sensitive, and acne-prone skin alike.
