How to Prevent Ingrown Hairs for Good

BLK Wax Bar Esthetics TeamMay 4, 20265 min read

The science of why ingrowns form, and the three-product system that stops them before they start.

Ingrown hairs aren't bad luck — they're the predictable result of a follicle that's been blocked, irritated, or trapped under a layer of dead skin. The hair grows, can't find the exit, and curls back into the dermis. The body reads that as an invader and responds with inflammation, the red or dark bump you see at the surface.

The three things every ingrown needs

1) Exfoliation to keep the follicle's exit open. 2) A chemical treatment (salicylic + glycolic acid) to dissolve the keratin plug already forming. 3) Hydration so the skin stays supple and the hair can push through instead of curling.

Our three-product system

Twice a week, polish with the Turmeric Honey Ginger Scrub on damp skin. Every morning and night, press 2–3 drops of the Ingrown Hair Serum into bumps and dark spots. After every shower, finish with the Mango Ingrown Oil to lock in moisture and soften the follicle wall.

What to skip

Tweezing active ingrowns (it scars), dry shaving, and heavy occlusive lotions on the bikini line. Give the routine 10–14 days before you judge it — most clients see clearer skin in week two.
